Open Sewing Studio

Students may use this open studio class to receive assistance, advice, and support on individual sewing projects. Sign up if you need help understanding sewing pattern instructions, or want guidance on various techniques like installing a zipper or creating a buttonhole. Or, bring in clothing items from your stash that you might need to alter or want to refashion. Sometimes you just need a little extra help on a project, but don't need a full class series. This class is for you!  Since there are several students in class, you should expect some independent work as I bop around and help each of you with your individual projects.  If you would prefer one on one assistance with a project, please get in touch for private lessons with Tina Sparkles.

Hem Lab

Tired of paying for simple alterations? This class will take the mystery out of hemming techniques on pants, cuffs, and skirts. Students will bring one item of clothing to be hemmed and learn a whole slew of machine and hand-sewn hemming methods.

Denim Destroy!

Transform a boring pair of jeans (or a jean jacket) into a new original. Add a vintage feel to your jeans with select distress marks, subtle holes and minor quirks. OR, go totally bonkers, rip your jeans to shreds and create a wearable work of art. In this class we’ll use tools like sandpaper, nail files, pumice stones, cheese graters, razors and scissors to perfectly destroy our denim. Other design elements like patches, top-stitching and painting will also be discussed.
